Punjab Govt passed vote on accounts for 4 months, no provision for pay hike.

The Punjab Assembly passed the Punjab Appropriation Bill 2009 (vote-on-account) seeking withdrawl of Rs 11,395.23 crore for meeting the state expenses fot the first four months of the next fiscal year, (April-July).

While moving the motion, Mr Badal said that the government was compelled to seek vote-on-account as the states annual plan for the next financial year had not be finalised so far.

'' The Fifth Pay Commission has also not submitted its Report to the government and we need some time to examine and approve the recommendations before making necessary budgetary provisions to implement the recommendations of the Commission'', he said.
