Govt. employees, primary teachers in Bihar end indefinite strike

Over six lakh non-gazetted employees and teachers from different associations in Bihar ended their indefinite strike on its 60th day today following intervention by Governor Devanand Konwar.
The associations had called the strike to press for early implementation of the recommendations of the 6th pay commission.

Bihar State Non-gazetted Employees Federation (Gope Group) General Secretary Rambali Singh, Bihar State Non-gazetted Employees Federation Secretary Rajkishore Rai and Bihar State Primary Madhyamik Teachers Association Morcha''s president Nagendra Singh announced withdrawal of the strike at a joint press conference.
They said the strike was called off in view of the ongoing elections and assurance from Konwar that their demands would be considered after formation of the next government.
