Orissa assures pay hike for University and college teachers in UGC scale

Refuting apprehensions of some of Members, the Higher Education Minister on Saturday said in the Assembly that the State would not loss UGC assistance of Rs 300 crore as the Government has already issued both resolution and notification to this effect.
The amount would be spent towards giving increased salaries to the teachers getting UGC scale as per the recommendation of 6th Pay Commission.
Replying to a calling attention notice of Amar Prasad Satapathy and Santosh Singh Saluja, the Minister said the resolution and the notification have been issued for giving increased salary to the all the UGC scale teacher working in Universities, Government colleges and Government aided private colleges as per the recommendation of Fitment Committee. The Fitment Committee had recommended the State Government to disburse the increased amount after having discussions with different teachers’ association.
