Bank D.A. for May, June July 2012 based on AICPIN data of March'12

CPI(IW) for the month of March has been released by Labour Ministry   today  which stands at  201  points.Index figures for the months of January and February have already been released and details are furnished here under:-

AICPIN for March 2012 released

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of March, 2012 increased by 2 points and stood at 201 (two hundred one).

LTC to North East by Air : Relaxation extended

The relaxation for travel to North Eastern Region (NER) by Air is further extended for two more years beyond 1st May 2012. An order in this effect has been issued by DOPT today.

Demand for hike in Govt. contribution in Employees Pension Scheme 1995


Realizing that the traditional unions do not bother much about private sector employees, whose numbers are increasing by the day, BJP has decided to fill in the gap by seeking higher pension for them.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, BJP national spokesperson P. Javdekar demanded that central government should increase its contribution towards pension of private sector employees.

Supreme Court upholds High Court's decision to quash quota in promotion

 The Supreme Court, on Friday upheld the Allahabad high court’s decision to scrap the policy of reservations in promotions introduced by the Mayawati government.

The Allahabad high court onJanuary 4, 2011 had dubbed it “unconstitutional” and struck it down following at least 50 petitions by employees associations from across the state. Following this, a special leave petition was filed in the Supreme Court against the order by the Bahujan Samaj Party government and some organisations.

J & K approves 7% D.A. for it's employees

Government Thursday approved release of 7 per cent Dearness Allowance in favour of its employees from January, this year besides according sanction to the constitution of State Planning Board – to function as advisory and recommendatory body so as to help the state government to formulate effective policies in key areas.

EPF interest rate hiked to 8.6%

 Interest rate on employees' provident fund will be increased to 8.6 per cent for the current fiscal, a move which will benefit around five crore subscribers. "The rates were brought down due to lower income (on investment in Special Deposit Schemes) ... There is no question of minimum or maximum interest rates. We distribute it as per our revenue. Next time, it will be 8.6 per cent," labour minister Mallikarjun Kharge said in the Rajya Sabha replying to a debate on working of labour ministry.

"One rank one pension may be implemented" - Army Chief

 Chief of Army Staff General V K Singhtoday hinted at implementation of one rank one pension and said all information regarding ex-army men would be collected and their problems would be sorted out. 

Addressing a conference of ex-army men Gen Singh said that all efforts were being made to implement one rank one pension from the last two years. 

Stating efforts were also being made to remove disparity in the family pension scheme, the COASsaid it may take time, but there would certainly be one or the other good outcome. 

Karnataka issued Pay Revision Order

After a long wait the employees of Karnataka has finally got their Pay Revision order notified.
                                       NOTIFICATION 
            In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3, read with the proviso to sub-section (2) of the said section of the Karnataka State Civil Services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act No.14 of  1990), the Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 
1.  Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2012. 
(2) They shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the first day of April, 2012. 
Government have accepted the recommendations of the Official Pay Committee 2011, regarding the pay and allowances.

Bihar increases D.A. from January 2012


Bihar Government has   decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) by 7 per cent from 58 per cent to 65 per cent to all the state government employees and the pensioners with effect from January 1.

Jharkhand announces 7% D.A.

The state cabinet on Saturday approved the proposal for 7% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees which will be effective from January 1.
With this announcement the DA has increased from the existing 58 percent to 65 percent and would be retrospective from January 1 this year, the sources said.

D.A. order for Central Govt. and autonomous bodies in 5th CPC scale

"The rates of Dearness Allowance admissible to the above categories of employees of the Central Government and the Central Autonomous Bodies shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 127% to139% w.e.f. 01.01.2012. AIl other conditions as laid down in the O.M. of even number dated 3rd October, 2008 will continue to apply."

CBEC Cadre review cleared by DOPT

As per sources from New Delhi, it is learnt that cadre review proposal of Central Board of Excise and Customs has been cleared by DOPT with reduction of posts in various cadres. Exact number of posts sanctions is not yet confirmed. The proposal will be placed in the Cabinet for approval.

5-day week for PSU bank staff ?

India's public sector banks are examining a proposal to a migrate to "five-day a week" work schedule, a move that will likely cheer thousands of employees as state-owned banks hammer out strategies to match private peers' human resource practices. The move, however, may come bundled with conditions attached with postings in remote areas amid mounting government pressure to widen "financial inclusion" in areas that still remain outside the banking net.

CBEC warns staff for posting online contents about official matter

 The CBEC Board noticed that some officers are posting online comments relating to official matters on social networking sites such as facebook, causing confusion and avoidable controversy among officers in different parts of the country.

J & K employees strike today for hike in retirement age, pay arrears etc

Employees in the state would go on a one day token strike on Tuesday against what they term as "government not keeping up its promise” of enhancing the retirement age from 58 to 60 and regularization of daily wagers.

No salary hike for Infosys employees

The No. 2 software exporter on Friday said it will not be offering salary hikes — as is its wont every April — this time.
“Our focus right now is on growth and the whole leadership team is working towards it. So, we have decided not to roll out hikes this April, but we might re-look into it later in the year if things improve,” said Nandita Gurjar, senior vice president, group head, HR, Infosys.

Haryana enhances D.A. from January 12

Chandigarh, Apr 12 (PTI) The Haryana government today enhanced the rate of Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees and Dearness Relief to its pensioners from existing 58 per cent to 65 per cent with effect from January 1, 2012. The employees would get DA in cash with effect from April, 2012. The arrears from January to March would be paid in cash, an official spokesman said here. He said that by giving the Dearness Allowances from January 1, 2012 to February 2013, the Government would bear an expenditure of Rs 639.58 crore.

Army propose to withdraw "sahayak" (personal servant for officers)

 Army chief Gen. V.K. Singh has recommended banning batmen — or sahayaks — in the force he heads.
His recommendation is favoured by defence minister A.K. Antony who had promised earlier that he did not want to see soldiers functioning as personal servants of officers.

Cabinet approves Air India restructure

The Cabinet approved restructuring of Air India on Thursday at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meet. The plan includes infusion of additional equity to shore up the precarious financial position of the cash-strapped carrier.

After earthquake Tsunami alert for Andamans, Tamilnadu and A.P.

Update at 4 P.M : No waves noticed so far in A & N Islands, tsunami virtually rulled out and no likelyhood of tsunami formed anywhere in Indian ocean, says National Disaster Management Authority.

An earthquake of 8.9 on Richter scale has struck Indonesia. Tremors were also felt in Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Patna, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Cuttack, Bhubaneshwar and several other cities on the eastern coast of India. India has also issued tsunami warning for coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the earthquake.
The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Service issued a red high-level warning for the islands, and also put out lower alerts for the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states in the southeast of the country.

"..........considering the demand of the State Government employees, the overall financial resources and fiscal targets stipulated under Orissa Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2005, the State Government have been pleased to release additional dose of DA @ 7% enhancing the same from the existing rate of 58% to 65% on the Basic Pay and Grade Pay taken together w.e.f. 01.01.2012 in case of the State Government employees, who are covered under the ORSP Rules, 2008. This additional dose of DA will be paid in cash and can be drawn in the Pay Bill of April, 2012 payable in May, 2012 and onwards. Arrear from the month of January, 2012 to March, 2012 on account of the enhanced DA will be drawn and disbursed latest by 31.03.2013......"

Tamilnadu increased Dearness Allowance, Download Order

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today raised Dearness Allowance (DA) by 7% for all Government Employees, Teachers, Pensioners, Family Pensioners from January 1 2012.
Anganwadi Uzhiyar, Sathunavu Paniyallarkal will also benefit by the hike in DA. The arrears will be disbursed in cash.
It will benefit 18 lakh Govt employees and cost around Rs. 1380 crores. The move follows recent DA hike by Union Government for Central  Govt employees. The announcement was made by Jaya in Satta Sabai today.
The existing rate of Dearness allowance is now 58%, the revised rate of Dearness allowance will become 65% with effect from 1.1.2012. The calculation of Dearness allowance, Pay in the pay band plus Grade pay with multiple of 65%.

Maharashtra Engineering teachers to get pay commission effect

The Higher and Technical Education Department of the state has finally directed the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) to follow the recommendations of the sixth pay commission for the salaries of teachers of engineering colleges. A letter to this effect was issued by Mantralaya officials to DTE on Saturday afternoon.

Kendriya Vidyalayas to introduce new uniform this session

In a circular circulated in all the Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangtahn has instructed its schools about change in  uniform from next session. However the pattern, design, colour etc of the new uniform will be decided by May- June this year. The parents of students taking admissions in class I are instructed not to stitch the uniform on old pattern and wait until new pattern is announced. Old and new uniform will be allowed to wear simultaneously for the next two years to allow weaning out of old uniform.The new uniform is being designed by NIFD (National Institute of Fashion Design)

Odisha hiked 7% Dearness Allowance from January'12


 Odisha government has hiked the DA (Dearness Allowances) of state government employees by 7 per cent. The DA will now stand at 65%.
 The DA hike will be effective from January 1, 2012. So, the employees will draw a big bonanza in terms of arrear.
 Over four lakh employees in Odisha will be benefitted from the DA hike, while four lakh pensioners will also get the benefits.

Confusion over Bank Holiday on 5th April (Mahavir Jayanti) & 6th April (Good Friday)

There is a confusion whether it is a Bank holiday or not on 5th April,12 on account of "Mahavir Jayanti". Some newspapers and websites declared that 5th and 6th April, Banks will be closed for  "Mahavir Jayanti" and "Good Friday" and this news created lot of confusion to Bank employees and customers.
5th April is NOT a nation wide Bank Holiday. Bank branches in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal will remain closed as a holiday on account of "Mahavir Jayanti".
In the rest of the country, the bank will operate normally.
It may be mentioned that 6th April, Good Friday is a holiday in all states except Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Gujarat, H.P., J &K, Jharkhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura.
Central Govt. offices will remain closed in both days throughout the country.

Kingfisher crisis ends, staff withdraw strike

TV reports say that KFA staff will fully cooperate with Vijay Mallya, possibly signalling the end of the crisis. All Kingfisher pilots will be back on duty on Mallya's assurance that salaries will be paid. Junior staff will be paid their dues by tomorrow.

Chhattisgarh announced D.A, bonanza for employees

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced 7 per cent increase in the dearness allowance for its nearly 2,00,000 employees, new pay scales for panchayat teachers, four per cent subsidy on bank interest to farmers, sitting allowance to panchayat representatives and plots to MPs and MLAs in the new capital city. Dr Singh announced these sops while winding up the debate on the appropriation bill for Rs 39,677 crore for 2012-13 which was passed by voice vote in the state Assembly last evening. The decision to increase the DA by 7 per cent of basic pay with effect from April 1 and another installment of DA in July, will entail an additional burden of Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer and end disparity between the DA of central and state government employees in the next fiscal
