Rajasthan employees demand to make Bhatnagar report public, threat agitation, mass leave

Though the orders have been issued to give certain benefits to the employees according to Bhatnagar report, the employees of Rajasthan are not happy with the proceedings.
Suspense over recommendations of the Krishna Bhatnagar Committee report remains, the all Rajasthan state employees (unified) union decided to go on a one-day mass leave on May 1 and strike from July 4. The decision was taken by employee leaders at a meeting in Jaipur on Sunday.
The employees said government must have given benefits from July 2006. Also, it has not implemented recommendations of Bhatnagar panel formed to remove discrepancies in implementation of the sixth pay panel in salaries of state employees. “Lakhs of employees were expecting to get benefits from July 2006. This has not happened. We’ve no other option but to protest,” said Shashi Bhushan Sharma, spokesperson of the union.
The employees’ leaders said the government should make recommendations public. “We want the government to make report public, as there are suspicions on what are committee’s recommendations and what the government has given,” said Yashpratap Singh, another union leader.
“No benefit has been given to class IV employees. They have been ignored. This section forms a sizeable chunk,” said Shivshankar Agarwal, president of secretariat employees union. Also, no benefit has been given to LDCs and UDCs.
Rajasthan education service lecturers association alleged government has not done justice in implementing the report. The leaders claimed they were demanding the pay grade at Rs4,800 in line with the Centre but the state has increased it to Rs4,600 from Rs4,200.
The school teachers said if their demands were not met they would start the agitation from April 14 from the chief minister’s constituency.
