West Bengal enforces biometric attendance, silent on D.A.

WB Govt. to implement biometric attendance in it's headquarter, "Nabanna" before the festive season. Webel, a state agency has almost completed the task for necessary infrastructure. There will be machines installed in every floor including the ground floor so that employees can not give any excuse for long queue in the elevator ! It is known from sources that higher officers even as high as secretaries will also have to put their attendance on machine.
The state Govt. has already introduced bio metric attendance in some ministries like health, rural administration earlier.
Though strict in attendance, Govt. did not provide any hint on arrears of D.A. With the latest announcement by the Central Govt. the difference climbed as high as 49% compared to the central employees. There is remote possibility of any announcement before the festive season kicks in. The employees may hope some relief from the next year only because even if any installment of D.A. released, as per convention it takes only prospective effect.
It may be mentioned that most of the other state Governments pay D.A. to their employees as per central rate.
