IPS association attacks DoPT over Pay Commission issue

Anguished over the "adverse" sixth Pay Commission report, the IPS Association tonight launched a scathing attack on the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), accusing it of "degrading" their services and promoting the interests of the IAS lobby.

The Association urged the Government to appoint only an IPS officer to the post of Union Home Secretary for the better projection of police forces in the country.

The General Body meeting of the Association, which was held here this evening, alleged that the DoPT has been passing orders in such a way that IAS officers were getting higher powers while their IPS brethren were "degraded".

Sources said the officers who attended the meeting expressed their "resentment" over a number of orders passed by the Department which they felt were against their interests.

They asked Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to convey their anguish about the Pay Commission recommendations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Union Cabinet.
