Four universities in Jammu & Kashmir to get revised pay from July, N o pay hike for Orissa State Road Transport Corporation staff now

As per the Sixth Pay Commission, employees of four universities will now get revised remuneration from this month.


The decision was taken at a meeting held recently organized by Governor, N.N. Vohra, who is the Chancellor of the state universities including the agricultural universities.

The meeting was illuminated by Chief Minister and Pro-Chancellor of all state universities Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary SS Kapur, Vice-Chancellors of the Jammu & Kashmir universities and Vice-Chancellors of the Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir and the SKUAST, Jammu.

An internal exercise for generating additional resources and effectively restraining non-productive expenditure simultaneously with an objective to improve the finances of the universities was insisted by Vohra earlier.

Mr. Abdullah emphasized on the need of augmenting agricultural production in the state.

He beseeched the Vice-Chancellors of the agricultural universities to espouse at least one district in their respective jurisdiction on a pilot project basis.

"Such pilot projects will act as a model for other areas to achieve the necessary aim of enhancing the productivity in a time bound period," added Abdullah.

Orissa

Minister of State for Commerce and Transport Sanjib Kumar Sahu today said that the State Government will consider giving salary to the employees of the Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission if the financial condition of the corporation improved.Replying to a question from Ramesh Chandra Chau Patnaik (BJD), the Minister, however, said the State Government did not have any such proposal now. The employees of the OSRTC are now getting salary as per the Fifth Pay Commission as the finances of the undertaking are not sound, he said.
