Nagaland Teachers welcome 6th UGC Scheme

The All Nagaland Government College Teachers Association has welcomed the implementation of the 6th UGC scheme by the State Government for teachers and librarians of government colleges in Nagaland.

In a press note, the Association stated: “The new scheme entails revision of pay and application of stringent service regulations as recommended by the University Grants Commission of India and promises to usher in an era of great positive changes in the higher education setting of Nagaland.”
The note also mentioned that important features of the new service regulations which include compulsory NET qualification for appointment, incentives for PhD and M.Phil, and Performance Appraisal Scoring System for promotions will ensure continuous improvement of teachers’ knowledge and utmost input in the workplace.Moreover, the Association has extended its gratitude to the Nagaland Government for its vision and the will to provide “low –cost- high- quality” education to the children. 
“Good education is invariably linked with socio- economic development. The new UGC package has been tailored to assure quality education to the students. It will help raise the standard of our education to the national or world level and this will eventually bring about all round development of the land and its people,” the note said.
