Govt employees near retirement should not be disturbed: CAT

The Central Administrative Tribunal has held that government employees on the verge of superannuation should not be disturbed merely because they have stayed for a considerably long period at a particular place.

The apex tribunal said that such a benefit should be extended to superannuating employees to retire peacefully at a particular place after years of dedicated service.

"Merely because the applicants have a long stay and the transfer order could not be implemented so far would not by itself constitute sufficient reason.

"There is an objective based on considerations of welfare behind such provision in the transfer policy as it would enable a person about to retire after a long and devoted service to make arrangements for settling down thereafter with his family, acquire a house if not already done," Member N D Dayal said.

CAT has correctly says that near retirement should not be disturbed. One who has served the institution more than 35-38 years of service all the while transfers during in service should be given last tenure of at least 3 years at his choice posting so that he can settle down like housing, children s marriages ect ect. When I was in banking industry i was also telling our association leaders that give me and like others thier place of choice at the time of retirement but for some they ignored and were not given. Now CAT has given directions so there will be some relief to nearing retirees. Thanks

hi,
See the decision of CAT...How much concern they have about retirees peaceful living......on otherside you see some sadist persons sitting at top level in IBA who discriminated and denied second pension option to voluntary retired who otherwise were legally entitled for the same ...

I wanted to draw your attention to the important petition that I
recently signed:

"Discrimination and denial of pension option to voluntary retired bank
employees by IBA and Banks under 9th bi partite settlement"
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pensionoptionvoluntaryretiredinbanks9thbps/

I really think this is an important cause, and I'd like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It's free and takes just a few seconds of your time.

Thanks!
