Assam Govt Hikes DA of State Govt Employees from 35% To 45%

Time for some celebrations for Assam Government employees ahead of Durga Puja. The Assam Government on Tuesday (Oct 12) announced that dearness allowance of State Government employees would be increased from the present 35 percent of their basic pay to 45 percent.

The hike will come into retrospective effect from July 2010. The announcement will benefit close to 4.5 lakh government employees in Assam. Meanwhile, the Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad, the apex body of government employees in Assam, has welcomed the government's decision to increase dearness allowance of Assam Government employees. According to official notification, the enhanced rate of DA and Dearness Relief shall be paid along with the monthly pay and pension from the current month of October.The arrear DA and Dearness Relief with effect from first July to 30th September this year would be deposited in the Bank accounts of the employees in a single installment as notified by the State Finance Department.The announcement will benefit close to 4.5 lakh government employees in Assam.
