Punjab employees to get timely salary

Delay in salary due to delay in submission of bills: Punjab government

Under fire over delay in payment of salary of its employees,Punjab Govt. today said this might due to late submission of salary bills.

It said salary amounting to Rs 200 crore has been cleared while the remaining bills of Rs 50-100 crore will also be cleared soon. Punjab Principal Secretary (Finance) D.P. Redy said salary bills amounting to Rs 1,201 crore have been cleared during the current month.

"Today also, salary bills amounting to Rs 200 crore shall be cleared. The remaining bills worth Rs 50-100 crore received in the treasuries would be cleared immediately thereafter," he said.

Claiming that all employees are getting their salaries in time, he said the delay in payment of salary might be due to delay in submission of bills.

"No directions have been issued to the Treasury Officers to withhold any salary bill," he claimed.

Reddy said that every month, in due course, salary bills keep pouring in and bulk of the bills get cleared by 15th of every month. This month is no exception, he added.

Reddy said Administrative Departments and Treasury Officers have been asked to ensure salary bills of employees are cleared promptly.
