Ahead of the Dusshera festival, Odisha government today (17/10) announced a hike in the dearness allowance for its employees by 6 per cent.

With this increase, the DA is now 119 per cent as compared to 113 per cent earlier. The new DA will benefit about four lakh government employees and pensioners.

The increased hike, to be implemented from July 1, will be given to the employees in their October salaries, informed sources said.

The state government is estimated to take an additional burden of Rs 305 crore by increasing the DA rate to 119 per cent, the sources said.
